Kindr Queer Mens Recovery Group

Monday Meeting Script

Good evening Everyone and you are all very welcome to this closed Meeting of Kindr – A Queer Men’s 12 Step Recovery Group. My name is _________ and I am an alcoholic and/or addict and your Secretary for tonight’s meeting.

The Kindr Preamble

“Kindr is a group of GBTQ+ Identifying Men who come together in 12 Step Fellowship to achieve a sober and clean life.

We endeavour to create a safe and respectful space where we work together to achieve freedom from our addictions. Our Meetings are free to attend and we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

As we come from different backgrounds we ask people to be mindful of the various addictions within our Group. Membership is open to all GBTQ+ Men who want to get and stay, clean and sober.

Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to carry the message to the still suffering addict.”

Welcoming the Newcomer

The Newcomer is the most important person at any meeting and if you are new to Kindr here today, you are most welcome. If this is your first Kindr meeting and you feel comfortable to do so, you are very welcome to introduce yourself to the Meeting now.

Format of the Meeting

This meeting will be for an hour and 15 minutes duration and tonight we will begin with a 5 to 10 minute guided meditation, followed by a Reading of the Secretary’s choice. I will now share the meditation on screen, please feel free to turn off your camera for the duration should u prefer.

After the Meditation Concludes

I will now share tonight’s reading on screen and I have asked ________ to read it for us and to introduce the topics it raises to the meeting by sharing first for the next 5 to 10 mins, after which we will open up the meeting to General Sharing.”

Meeting Guidelines

It is the wish of our Group Conscience that every addict be afforded the chance to share at this meeting, with this in mind, we ask that you please be mindful of the length of time you share for, my co-host ________ will be our Spiritual Timekeeper and we will set a 4 minute timer. You do not need to stop mid-sentence it is just a reminder to wind up your share and leave time for others to come in.

The Secretary shall call upon all members present to share in rotation, should you prefer not to share tonight please feel free to just listen.

Please be mindful of the language you use while sharing as it can be triggering for others especially around how you reference particular behaviours, drug use and hook up apps, for example.

If you wish to smoke or vape while at the meeting we ask that you turn off your camera while doing so.

While we encourage you to find identification with what others share, we remind you that cross-talk is discouraged when sharing, as it can create an unsafe atmosphere within the meeting. Cross talk is when someone comments directly or gives their opinion on what someone else has shared.

The chat facility is closed and will remain so throughout the meeting, it is possible to message the Host & Co Host but not everybody in the meeting.

I now invite you to share on tonight’s reading or meditation, your own experience, strength and hope in Recovery or indeed the 12 Steps in general.”

(the Secretary then calls on those present in the share in rotation)

Closing The Meeting

That is all the time we have for sharing tonight, thank you to all of you for being here and making this meeting possible. I will now ask _________to read the Kindr Responsibility Pledge.

In this Group we follow the 12 Traditions of 12 Step Fellowship, and in accordance with Tradition 7, we are self-supporting, declining outside contributions. I will now post the details of our SumUp account in the Meeting chat and also into the Kindr WhatsApp chat.

The Newcomer is the most important person at any meeting, and we show we are a responsible 12 Step Group by introducing ourselves to the Newcomer and making them feel welcome at our meetings.

At this meeting while recognising we are on a daily program, we do like to celebrate milestones in Recovery, if anyone would like to share any significant sobriety milestone today or in the past week, I would like to invite you to do so now.”

Tradition 12 States that anonymity is the Spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities. We will now close the meeting with the Serenity Prayer, for those who wish to say it, but before we do so can we please all thank _________ for reading and introducing the topic for tonight’s meeting.”
